OK, so here's the thing.  We feel we are different than your "average" real estate agents and their office.  Everything under the blue line below is absolutely true, and a little dry to read.  We don't really like dry.  We like fun, honest and direct.  We like to think we are talking WITH you when you read this.  Hope it works.

What makes us different, you ask?  Well...we are a husband and wife team.  That doesn't mean we are two agents both representing different buyers and sellers, both showing properties, both updating the website, both getting in each others way, and not really working as a team, except when counting the number of sales at the end of the year, to make it look good.  We are a true TEAM.  Brian does one thing, I do the other. 

Brian loves to meet with people, get to know them, help them sell their property and/or buy a new one.  He is very calm.  Everyone really likes that about him.  He is incredibly knowledgeable about this thing called "real estate".  He has earned many additional designations by completing many (really, I'm serious - a lot) additional hours of class time so that he makes sure he knows the most.  He is an excellent and creative negotiator.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm his wife.  He is an amazing problem solver.  If you've ever purchased or sold a property before, maybe there was a problem or two?  (wink, wink - is there ever not a problem?  Well, sometimes - but not usually).  He is the person who calmly solves those problems...even the biggie's.  He is very organized, efficient and detailed.  He is always available via his cell phone for our clients.  If he doesn't answer immediately, he is probably showing your house, or getting an answer about your offer.  He would sleep with his cell phone if I allowed him.  And he has answered the phone at 2 a.m. before.  The other real estate agent who couldn't sleep was quite surprised.

What do I do?  Well I'd like to just say everything else.  But that sounds kinda whiny to me.  I don't do what he does.  There is no need, because he does it all so well.  I create this website.  I'm the more "techy" of the two of us.  I input the listing information once he has completed the listing process.  It goes into the multiple listing service, our website, and gets updated on Realtor.com.  I put together property fliers, information notebooks for the homes and submit print advertising.  I create all the other ads that go into the movie theater, billboards and print media.  I search for new advertising mediums and I do the boring stuff like order supplies, pay the bills, search for new places to list our company on the web.  I don't meet with clients.  We feel it is best if the client has one contact person and that's Brian.  But I'm always here to back him up if needed.  Maybe make a phone call now and then.  Most of our clients never even meet me, until we run into them at the grocery store, and I'm in my workout clothes and look horrible.  I like to lurk in the background doing the day in, day out detailed stuff that would take up too much of Brian's time.  This way, his time is spent wisely on the important stuff...our clients and their real estate needs.

Yes, we are both licensed Realtors (which means we both passed all the tests and classes to get our Connecticut Real Estate sales licenses.  Brian went on and completed more classes and more tests and earned his Connecticut Broker's license, and we are both members of the National Association of Realtors, which is why we get to use the word Realtor®.  Special huh? We own our business.  It's just us (and hopefully you).  We answer to no one but our clients.  We never have to check with anyone else to make a decision, make a deal happen, get a question answered. 

What else makes us different?  Well, it's just us you deal with.  No office "manager".  No general fax machine where everyone can read your mortgage pre-approval letter.  No administrative assistant that handles your checks into and out of the escrow account.  Brian and I do that.  We keep the key to your home in a secure electronic lockbox at your home.  Your files are kept secure with Brian and only Brian accessing them (or me if I have to).  Privacy, confidentiality and security are really, really important to us.  Not to mention the law and in the Realtor®
Code of Ethics.

Will we ever have other agents working with us?  Maybe, we just haven't looked around for the right ones yet.  We are kinda different with how we do things.  We only want other Realtors® who are kind of different too.  Hard to come by it seems. 

Hmmmm, what else can I tell you that isn't the boring stuff below.  I guess the other thing is that when we say two full time Realtors at your side, we mean it.  Full time - all the time.  Even when we travel (which is next to never) we take it all with us.  Computers, scanner, printer, cell phone.  Crazy, huh?  I think so.  So do the kids.  But they have adjusted to "checking messages and emails" on a three times a day schedule.  It's what we do.  We like this business.  We like the people we work with.  We feel responsible for our clients, their transaction and providing the best service we know how.
